Our last Book Club meeting was about the book “The Book of Lost Names” by Kristin Harmel. It is about a young Jewish woman who becomes an underground resistance forger to save hundreds of Jewish children, and a present-day librarian trying to solve a coded book.
Our next book is “Atmosphere” by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It is set primarily at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. The protagonist is Joan Goodwin, a physics and astronomy professor, who becomes one of the first female scientists in the space shuttle program. The plot follows her journey from professor to astronaut candidate, her unexpected and pivotal relationship with magnetic engineer Vanessa Ford, and a present-day crisis during the STS-LR9 mission in 1984.
Our next Book Club meeting will be on Sunday, August 23rd, at 12:30 in the TBT library. I will be collecting annual Sisterhood dues of $36 at that meeting.
