Hi Everyone,
Our last book club meeting was about the book “The Women” by Kristin Hannah. It tells the story of Frankie, a female nurse, and her experiences in and after the Vietnam War. We discussed the important role helicopters played in the war. Some of us watched the war live on the nightly news on our TVs. We talked about the ways men found to avoid being drafted such as getting married, and moving to Canada. We all loved the book.
The next book is “There: We Found Our Family in A New York City Subway Station.” by Peter
Mercurio. In August 2000, Peter Mercurio’s partner Danny Stewart found and helped rescue an abandoned newborn infant in the Union Square subway station in New York City. This is the remarkable tale of their journey to adopting that baby, whom they named Kevin, and to raising him.
Our next book club meeting will be on Sunday, February 22nd, at 12:30 in the TBT library.
Feel free to bring lunch or a snack.
Quote: “When we say ‘It takes a village’ we lived it, and we credit our village with helping us raise our son. We couldn’t have done it without them.”

I look forward to seeing you on February 22nd.
