Book Club Meeting
The next book club meeting will be on June 11th. The book is “The Island of Sea Women” by Lisa See. It is a historical novel set on the Korean island of Jeju. In it, two young girls, from strikingly different backgrounds, bond over their shared love of the sea. Hi everyone, Happy Mother’s Day! Our last meeting was about the book “Horse” by Geraldine Brooks. We compared “Horse” to “Kindred “. Both books were about slavery in the antebellum South. “ Kindred” told how terribly slaves were treated. In “Horse” we learned that the slaves who trained horses, or were jockeys, were treated better than the rest. Horse racing was big business.
