Our last meeting was about the book “The Island of Sea Women “ by Lisa Lee. We saw 20th century Korean life, and death, through the eyes of the characters. It was very educational. Some of us did further research about the tragic, and true, events in the story.
Our next Book Club meeting will be on Sunday, July 23rd at 12:30 in the TBT library.
The book is “The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post” by Allison Pataki. It is the story of a fascinating woman and American heiress, who made her mark as a philanthropist and pioneering woman of the 20th century. What made Marjorie stand out was not her money, but what she did with it. She did enjoy the comforts that the money granted her, but she never forgot her humble beginnings, and she saw a bigger purpose in all the money her family amassed.
Feel free to bring lunch or a snack.
I look forward to seeing you on July 23rd.
