Hopefully you received the email I sent earlier today.
If I didn’t express myself clearly or directly, I want to be sure everyone understands that I am stepping aside and passing The Tambourine as Sisterhood President, effective August 27th, after our annual meeting when one of you will agree to organize our Sisterhood as I will not be back home anytime soon.
I did not list everything Sisterhood does throughout the year in my email as that’s part of our Annual Meeting discussion, not for a brief email. However, let me make it clear that we have many people who do so much for Sisterhood – Judith Oppenheim has, for years well before Covid shut us down for a while, coordinated our August Restaurant Month dinner. We hope you’re planning on keeping this going as it’s been one of the most enjoyable events that includes spouses and families. Deb Nowinski coordinated the Rosh Hashanah Gift boxes that so many Sisterhood ladies baked, made chocolates, contributed to the art on the boxes or contributed other treats for the boxes. We’ll be looking for someone to coordinate this again this year. Deb? And speaking of High Holidays, Sisterhood will need someone to coordinate the Rosh Hashanah Oneg, the Yom Kippur Break-fast and the December 25th luncheon/movie day. While I’m now on a roll, thanks to Marsha for the May Mother’s Day luncheon that’s always so lovely for all who have been able to attend for so many years now. Marsha has also been instrumental in coordinating many Happy Hours and get-togethers for which we appreciate so very much! Thank you Marsha, for your efforts to encourage Friday night Shabbat representation to greet guests and welcome ladies to join us. Marsha has also worked to encourage support for Myrna, as there is much to do prior to the shabbat service – setting up the oneg tables, ensuring Myrna does not have to be at the temple alone, and I could go on and on. Marsha, all of your energy, thoughtfulness and time are appreciated. Myrna is of course, thanked by all of us as without her, we would not have had services to attend for years now. I’m sure I’ve left out others who have contributed immensely. Harriet Hayes will be dearly missed for her Passover Charoset making night that she’s hosted at her home for as long as I can remember. She and her husband Erik moved this summer to be closer to their family just outside of Dallas. We have so many good cooks, soup makers and bakers within our Sisterhood. I hope you’ll continue to share your talents in the months and years to come.
That’s a taste of what we will discuss on the 27th.
Please join us on the 27th for our Annual Meeting.
