Our last book club meeting was about the book “Not From Here “ by Lea Lax. The book is a recounting of tales from people living in Houston who came here from all over the world. These immigrants and refugees shared their stories of desperation and hope. Those of us who weren’t born here shared our stories of why we came to live in Houston.
Our next book is “Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of my Hasidic Roots” by Deborah Feldman. It is her memoir retelling how as a young Jewish woman she fled the restrictive customs of her Hasidic Jewish sect and an unhappy marriage.
The next meeting will be on Sunday, February 16th at 12:30 in the TBT library.
You are welcome to come to the book club even if you haven’t completed or read the book yet. You can still contribute to the conversation and have a good time.
