Our last book club meeting was about the book “The Secret Life of Sunflowers” by Marta Molnar. The book tells of two women, from different eras, who face similar challenges in achieving success in their careers. In general we liked the book, but some of us objected to books that jump back and forth in time. The book was meant to be uplifting because both women achieved their goals. In a way it was sad because many modern women still have to fight to get ahead in a man’s world.
Our next book is “The Traveling Cat Chronicles “ by Hiro Arikawa. It is a story of a man and his cat, and what they will do to stay together for as long as possible. It is about good things and bad things, friendships and jealousy, family and heartbreak, all told from the cat’s perspective.
The next book club meeting will be on Sunday, August 24th at 12:30 in the TBT library. We will not meet in July.
The annual Sisterhood meeting will follow at about 2:00. Please make an effort to come. I will be collecting $36 for annual Sisterhood dues. If you can’t come please send a check made out to Temple Beth Tikvah. Write Attention: Sisterhood Treasurer on the envelope. This is separate from regular TBT dues and will be deposited in the Sisterhood account.
Feel free to bring lunch or a snack.
