This past Shabbat didn’t have much Shalom in it. My heart is heavy as I mourn America’s largest loss of Jewish life in a single, horrifying incident at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. My heart is heavy as I think of many other losses of life through gun violence. My heart is hopeful as I know the divisiveness across politics, race, religion and other issues in our country is something that we can all work toward doing our small part to help repair. It is for this reason that our synagogue President Stuart Eisen and I are hosting an Interfaith Service Of Peace and welcome you to join us at our spiritual home, Temple Beth Tikvah this Saturday beginning at 10 am. Please feel free to extend this invitation to others who resound with our message.
I have reached out to Cantor/Rabbi Jeffrey Myers of Tree of Life Synagogue to see what we can do to support him and his congregational family. If I hear back from him I will share his response.
