Our last book club meeting was about the book “The Travelling Cat Chronicles “ by Hiro Arikawa . It is about the loving relationship between a man and his cat. We agreed that even though it is fiction, and told from the cat’s point of view, the friendships and jealousy, good and bad happenings, were all relatable.
Our next book is “The Faculty Lounge” by Jennifer Mathieu. It’s a contemporary fiction novel that explores the lives of teachers, administrators and staff at a Texas high school.
The story begins with the death of a retired substitute teacher in the faculty lounge and follows the ripple effect of this event throughout the school year.
Several members of the book club are either current educators or retired ones. It will be interesting to compare stories in the book with our own experiences.
The next book club meeting will be on Sunday September 14th at 12:30 in the TBT library.
If you haven’t already done so, please bring $36 for the annual Sisterhood dues. If you can’t come, please send a check made out to Temple Beth Tikvah. Write Attention: Sisterhood Treasurer on the envelope. This is separate from regular TBT dues and will be deposited in the Sisterhood bank account.
Feel free to bring lunch or a snack.
